Neither Mr. Obama nor Mrs. Hillary Clinton have received or are at risk of receiving these suspicious packages, the US Secret Service said.
These items were discovered during routine mail screening for potential explosive devices and were handled appropriately,” the agency said in a statement.
While the package addressed to Mr. Obama was intercepted in Washington DC on the morning of October 24 (local time), the package addressed to Mrs. Clinton was delivered to her address in Westchester County, New York yesterday.
Authorities said the package addressed to Mrs. Clinton was found and intercepted near the area where she lives, but did not provide any further information.
Earlier this week, another suspicious package addressed to billionaire and major Democratic donor George Soros was discovered in a timely manner. Authorities are investigating whether there is any connection between the three packages.
