The current leader of Honda MotoGP, Alberto Puig, said that Marc Marquez’s victory in the MotoGP 2025 title would be a “real global sporting feat”.

Puig, who worked alongside Marquez throughout his career in Honda, from his debut in 2013 until the end of the 2023 season, lived firsthand the challenges that the Spanish champion had to face after the accident that seriously damaged his arm in the 2020 Spanish Grand Prix. During his career, Marquez won six world titles in seven years, but his journey was marked by a long battle against the Accidents.
Today, Marquez runs with Ducati, and is considered one of the favorites to win the title in 2025, with Puig recognizing the greatness of the possible result.
“He faced enormous difficulties with his arm and anyone in that period knew it,” explained Puig a brand. “I know what was passing, and even more considering that he was world champion.”
Over the years, Marquez has fought to believe he can return to the top, but thanks to the support of his team and his incredible willpower, he managed to recover. Puig claims that winning the title in 2025, a difficult company considering the quality of the opponents, would be an extraordinary realization, which would go far beyond MotoGP.
“After years of absence from the top positions due to injuries and other difficulties, returning to triumph would be something incredible,” added Puig. “A person like him is very special.”
Currently, Marquez is only one point from the top of the championship ranking after a fall in the Spanish Grand Prix, but he won three of the first five races and all five Sprint races with the official Ducati team.
If Marquez had to win the championship this year, he would reach the rival Valentino Rossi with seven world titles in the Regina class and a total of nine, also considering the titles in Moto2 and 125cc. A company that would further consolidate its place among the greatest pilots of all time.
