Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said a majority of senators believe the current witnesses and more than 28,000 pages of documentary evidence are enough to judge the House’s allegations and conclude the impeachment trial of President Trump.
The Senate will resume its session on Monday, skipping the Saturday morning debate under the impeachment rules. Representatives from the House of Representatives and President Trump’s defense team will each have two hours to make their closing arguments. The Senate will then adjourn the trial until the afternoon of February 5, when senators will vote on the articles of impeachment and Mr. Trump could be acquitted as the Republicans control the Senate./.
