After being called out by Taylor Swift in a new song, Kim Kardashian is reportedly confused that the singer is still upset about events from nearly a decade ago. According to People, Swift’s latest album The Tortured Poets Department has reignited tensions between the two celebrities. The track “thanK you aIMee” appears to mock Kardashian, with capital letters in the title spelling out “KIM.”

Following the song’s release, Kim Kardashian lost over 100,000 followers on social media — a number that continues to rise. Sources told People that Kim was surprised Swift is still holding onto resentment: “Kim doesn’t understand why Taylor keeps bringing it up. It’s been years. Kim thinks Swift should just move on and focus on her life.”
In thanK you aIMee, Swift reflects on dealing with bullies, suggesting it made her stronger. The lyrics reveal deep pain, with Swift expressing a wish for her bully’s downfall and imagining a future where the bully’s children unknowingly sing the very song meant to expose her.
The bad blood between Taylor Swift and Kim Kardashian dates back to 2016. That year, Kanye West, Kim’s then-husband, mentioned Swift in his song Famous using derogatory lyrics and featured a nude lookalike of Swift in the music video.
At the time, Kim defended West, claiming that Swift had approved the lyrics. Kim later released an edited recording of a phone call between Swift and West, portraying Swift as a liar. As a result, Swift faced a major backlash, with the public branding her as “fake” and “a snake.” In 2017, Swift hit back with her album Reputation, embracing the snake imagery in response to the criticism.
However, in 2020, the full unedited phone call surfaced, showing that Swift had never agreed to the offensive lyric, and that the recording Kim had shared was misleadingly edited.
Later, during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Kim said she and Swift had “moved on” from the past drama. Swift, on the other hand, disagreed, saying, “It would be great if the person who bullied me apologized publicly. But instead, all I got was a message saying, ‘Let’s move on.'”
In 2023, while accepting Time’s Person of the Year award, Swift once again referenced the feud, describing how the edited recording devastated her mental health. “It was an illegally recorded, manipulated conversation,” Swift said. “Kim Kardashian edited it and made me look like a liar. I had to isolate myself because I couldn’t trust anyone. I thought my career was over.”
Now, with The Tortured Poets Department, it’s clear that for Taylor Swift, the wounds from that betrayal still haven’t fully healed — even after almost ten years.
