The track “thanK you aIMee” appears to mock Kardashian, with capital letters in the title spelling out “KIM.”
Following the song’s release, Kim Kardashian lost over 100,000 followers on social media — a number that continues to rise. Sources told People that Kim was surprised Swift is still holding onto resentment: “Kim doesn’t understand why Taylor keeps bringing it up. It’s been years. Kim thinks Swift should just move on and focus on her life.”
In thanK you aIMee, Swift reflects on dealing with bullies, suggesting it made her stronger. The lyrics reveal deep pain, with Swift expressing a wish for her bully’s downfall and imagining a future where the bully’s children unknowingly sing the very song meant to expose her.
The bad blood between Taylor Swift and Kim Kardashian dates back to 2016. That year, Kanye West, Kim’s then-husband, mentioned Swift in his song Famous using derogatory lyrics and featured a nude lookalike of Swift in the music video.
At the time, Kim defended West, claiming that Swift had approved the lyrics. Kim later released an edited recording of a phone call between Swift and West, portraying Swift as a liar.
