Question: “Have you talked to your new teammates?”
Alexander-Arnold: “Yes, I met Dean (Huijsen) during the summer break. Tomorrow both he and I will meet our new teammates and we will have time to get to know each other. I’m so excited, I even had to pinch myself to make sure this wasn’t a dream.”
Question: “What was the hardest thing about leaving Liverpool?”
Alexander-Arnold : “I’ve been there since I was a kid and the club feels like a family. But I think the timing is right, I’m ready to succeed elsewhere. This opportunity is too good to miss.”
Question: “Do you think you would be more respected in Spain than in England?”
Alexander-Arnold: “I haven’t thought about that yet. I want to know what the coach wants from me and follow the instructions as best I can. I’m focused on helping the team win the championship.”
Memories of Real Madrid in the past
Alexander-Arnold: “A long time ago, when I watched David Beckham play here, and Cristiano Ronaldo later. Real Madrid always demanded success.”
Why change the shirt name to only “Trent”
Alexander-Arnold: “It’s understandable, wherever I go people say my name is a bit difficult to pronounce because it’s long. I think it’s best to shorten it.”
The difference between Real Madrid and Liverpool
Alexander-Arnold: “I’m very lucky to play for both the biggest clubs in England and the biggest clubs in Spain. Both clubs have won the national championship and the European championship many times. To play for both clubs is an honour that cannot be refused, and the pressure in both places is the same, which is to win the championship.”
Question: “When did you start wanting to go back to Real Madrid?”
Alexander-Arnold : “I always knew that if I left Liverpool, there would only be one club I wanted to go to, Real Madrid. There were times when I thought about how difficult it would be to make this decision. I had been at Liverpool for a long time and felt like part of the club. But I still think I made the right decision.”
Question: “How do you feel today compared to the day you left Liverpool?”
Alexander-Arnold : “It’s completely different. I achieved everything at Liverpool and I can’t forget those years. I’m happy that I left with success and have nothing to complain about, especially the fans who have shown me love. The club’s leaders also thanked me very much and said I would always be welcome here,
Today, I am very excited to start a new chapter here. Not everyone has this opportunity, to play with the top players at Real Madrid. Playing with them instead of against them will be a great feeling.”
About Jude Bellingham
Alexander-Arnold : “We talked about Liverpool, about Real Madrid. I wanted to know what it was like at Real Madrid. Many people think he was the main reason I came here, but Real Madrid doesn’t need an introduction.”
About Dani Carvajal
Alexander-Arnold: “He’s a fantastic player. I respect all the success he’s achieved. It wouldn’t be possible without talent and hard work.”
Question: “Have you spoken to coach Xabi Alonso?”
Alexander-Arnold : “Yes, I say he is my idol and working with him is a dream come true. Xabi has influenced the way I play football, he does things that seem impossible. We haven’t actually met in person yet, but in the coming days I will definitely speak to him directly.
Xabi is a new coach here and it might take a while to get to know everyone, but he has shown his ability and I will try to learn as much as I can.”
Question: “Why did you choose Madrid now?”
Alexander-Arnold : “I’ve been waiting for this for a long time, I mean the last two weeks. I respect the club, growing up I saw Real Madrid win the Champions League three years in a row. I’m not surprised by that and I want to be part of that success. This team has a winning culture, and we’re going to America to win the Club World Cup.”

Alexander-Arnold wears number 12 shirt
Alexander-Arnold was present at Real Madrid’s trophy room and had a photo taken with president Florentino Perez. He will wear the number 12 shirt that Marcelo used to wear, with just the name “Trent” on the shirt.
Real Madrid unveiled star defender Trent Alexander-Arnold today, June 12, at the Santiago Bernabeu. This is one of the most notable contracts of the 2025 summer transfer season, bringing the player who was the vice-captain of the Liverpool team that won all the titles to the Spanish Royal Club.
Alexander-Arnold appeared at Real Madrid’s debut
Trent Alexander-Arnold grew up at Liverpool and has been involved in every title Liverpool have won since 2019, including 2 Premier Leagues, 1 League Cup, 1 FA Cup, 1 Champions League, 1 Club World Cup and 1 UEFA Super Cup. Alexander-Arnold has played a total of 354 games and scored 23 goals & 82 assists in all competitions.
Alexander-Arnold is expected to leave Liverpool for Real Madrid on a free transfer after his contract expires at the end of June. But in order to have him play in the Club World Cup, Real Madrid decided to pay £10 million for Alexander-Arnold to join them at the beginning of the month.
Today, June 12, Alexander-Arnold will be presented at Real Madrid at the club’s headquarters at 5:30 p.m. Vietnam time. He has previously completed a medical examination to prepare to sign the contract.
Alexander-Arnold medical check
Alexander-Arnold wears the number 66 shirt at Liverpool, but La Liga does not allow this shirt number, only from 1 to 25. “TAA” therefore chose to replace it with the number 12 shirt, the number that left-back Marcelo wore for 16 years at Real Madrid, in addition, the name on his shirt will only be “Trent” instead of his surname.
