After Louisa Adams, the wife of the late President John Quincy Adams was elected since the 1820s, Melania became the first American first lady with a foreign root. That makes people in Sevnica town, Eastern Slovenia, very proud, although they do not support her husband, Mr. Donald Trump, who has just been elected the US president.

Standing next to one of the American flags adorned the town on the Sava River, Mayor Srecko Ocvirk explained toTelegraph: “This is a gift for Melania Trump. I am not pregnant for her husband.”
Nena Bedek, Trump’s classmate in Ljubljana, also showed pride: “She is now the most important woman in the world. I feel happy for Melania, though not very happy because of her husband’s victory.”
Regardless of the doubt about Mr. Trump, 6,000 Sevnica residents did not deny that they expected a Trump couple’s visit, even though they knew they might have to wait long.
“We have 4 years ahead and the government is promoting an official visit. Amalija, Melania’s mother, promised her daughter to return to an individual to meet relatives and friends in childhood,” said mayor Ocvirk.

Melania, 46, was named Melanija Knavs, born in 1970 in a middle -class family. Her mother works in a children’s clothing factory and her father sells car parts. The family originally lived in an apartment, then moved to a two -storey house near the Sava River, on the edge of the town.
Maja Kosmeri, a childhood friend, recalled: “When we were young girls, we listened to the Western pop music. One day, Melania danced to Boy George’s song and told me ‘as soon as possible, I will leave here’.”
Mirjana Jelancic, a neighbor who is currently the principal of Melania’s former primary school, said that since childhood, she was very creative. “Sevnica is too small for her.”
After leaving Sevnica, Melania pursued a modeling career in Milan and went to the United States. She met billionaire Trump at a party of the New York Fashion Week in September 1998 and married him in 2005. A year later, she gave birth to a Barron son and became an American citizen.
Roman Dolensek, a local person, praised Melania to “recreate himself”, became knowledge with perfect English. “Without her, Mr. Trump will never beat Hillary Clinton or become president,” he said.
Local people hope that their relationship with the Trump family will attract many tourists to the town is almost quite strange to the Slovenia people, not to mention foreigners.
“The interest of the world has a positive meaning because Sevnica is on the momentum of developing into a tourist destination,” said Mayor Ocvirk.
