Following the Nations League semi-finals on the morning of June 6, many fans expressed their disappointment with coach Didier Deschamps’ army.
In the first half of the German match, Spain played excellently and held a 4-0 lead against France, with goals from Nico Williams, Mikel Merino, Lamine Yamal and Pedri. Although Dharma revived strongly when they responded with 4 goals, they still suffered a final defeat of 4-5 and missed out on a date with the 2025 Nations League final.

Explaining the defeat to Spain, Deschamps said: “When we concede up to five goals, it’s clear that the defense isn’t doing the job well. We’re punished when our players are up against top-level players. Spain has a quality team and top attacking players.”

After the fight, many fans said that coach Deschamps should leave immediately, rather than wait until the 2026 World Cup. One fan said: “France is being humiliated by their opponents. Please, please, firmly dismiss Deschamps before the World Cup takes place.” Another said: “Deschamps should have been fired long ago, not wait until now.”
Someone always suggested: “There’s still time until the 2026 World Cup, fire Deschamps and appoint Zinedine Zidane. He’s waiting for the job of French national team coach.” Another commenter asserted: “If Deschamps is a bit self-righteous, he should resign right after the match.”
Zidane has repeatedly expressed his desire to replace Deschamps. Last week, the French football legend further expressed his ambition at an event: “I feel capable of leading the French national team, where I have contributed for almost 14 years. Of course, it’s a dream. I can’t wait.”
France will have its third National League match against Germany on June 8.
