K-pop performer Bain is out and proud!
In a powerful moment later shared to social media, 23-year-old singer Bain, a member of the Korean pop group Just B, took a minute to address the crowd during the band’s concert in Los Angeles on Tuesday, April 22. During his impassioned speech, he shared that he was a part of the LGBTQ+ community — and proud of it.
“I want to share something with you guys,” Bain (real name Song Byeong-hee) said on stage at the Vermont Hollywood Hall, as seen in a video posted to his Instagram on Thursday, April 24. “I’m f—— proud to be a part of the LGBTQ+ community — as a gay person.”
The crowd could be heard cheering, and one fan in the front row can be seen waving a rainbow pride flag back and forth as he speaks.
The performer then took a moment to shout out one of his biggest inspirations, whose songs “Judas” and “Born This Way” he had previously covered during their U.S. tour.
“Shout out to my queen Lady Gaga, because she showed that being different is beautiful!” Bain added.
In his Instagram post after the performance, he shared a message on Instagram, writing a similar statement to what he said on stage.
“To anyone out there who’s part of the LGBTQ+ community, or still figuring it out — this is for you,” he wrote. “You are seen, you are loved, and you were born this way.š³ļøš”
The singer’s bandmates also shared their support per the Korean social media platform Fromm, per NBC News.

“I was watching from backstage and I cried too,” Just B member Siwoo wrote. “I cried even more because I knew how hard it was for him.”
In footage shared to X after the concert by fans, Bain could be seen making one final address to the crowd before heading off stage.
“L.A., thank you so much,” he said. “Today, it means a lot to me — I’m so happy that I can be myself.”
One of his bandmates chimed in, “We are happy too,” and Bain finished the show: “Until next time: stay bold, stay fierce, and lastly, always, always be your true self.”

According to NBC and Billboard, a few individual Korean artists such as Holland and Mrshll have publicly discussed their LGBTQ+ identities since entering the music scene, and others such as Magolpy and Jiae of the girl group WA$$mUP sharing about their sexualities after their debut.
Bain’s on-stage announcement still marks a major moment in K-pop history, as homosexuality remains a sensitive subject in South Korea. Same-sex marriage is not recognized in the nation, and the Human Rights Watch wrote in the 2023 report that discrimination against LGBTQ people “remains pervasive.”
Just B, made up of six members including Siwoo and Bain, has released five EPs and several singles since its debut in 2021. The group has been on their 2025 Just B World Tour since late March, and Los Angeles marked their final stop of the tour after one month in North America.
