Mexico City, April 29, 2025 – Sergio “Checo” Pérez, the famous Mexican Formula 1 driver, has demonstrated that his commitment to his country extends far beyond the racetrack. This week, Checo made a heartwarming and generous investment of $7.5 million to transform an abandoned area into an activity center for homeless youth in his native Mexico.
The project, tentatively named “Centro Juvenil Checo Pérez ,” will be located on the outskirts of Guadalajara, Jalisco, a region with deep personal roots for the pilot. The initiative seeks not only to provide a safe home but also to offer educational opportunities, vocational training workshops, sports programs, and psychological counseling to hundreds of young people currently experiencing homelessness.
“I’ve always been very aware of where I come from. This project is a way for me to give back to my country for everything it has given me. Young people need hope, education, and opportunities to get ahead,” Checo said during the presentation ceremony.
The area chosen for the center’s construction was until recently a neglected space, deteriorating due to neglect and vandalism. Thanks to Pérez’s investment and the support of various social organizations, this place will become a place of life and hope for those most in need.
The Checo Pérez Youth Center will have:

Safe dormitories for 300 young people.

Classrooms for tutoring classes and technical workshops.

A sports center for physical activities and local tournaments.

A community dining room with capacity for 500 people.

Green areas, urban gardens and recreational spaces.
In addition, the project includes the creation of a scholarship program for young people who wish to pursue university or technical studies, thus opening a real door to a better future.
