Football fans have named one man as the star player during the Champions League match between Inter Milan and Barcelona, and it may surprise you.
After a thrilling 3-3 draw in the first leg, all eyes turned to the San Siro on Tuesday night as Inter Milan and Barcelona met for the second leg of their Champions League semi-final clash.
Inter started the game strong with goals from Lautaro Martinez and Hakan Calhanoglu giving them a 2-0 lead going in to half-time, before Barcelona’s Eric Garcia, Dani Olmo, Raphinha secured a second half comeback.
With Barcelona looking almost certain to win the match, Inter defender Acerbi equalised in the closing moments of the tie, and yet it is another player that stood out to fans, and it’s not one of the goalscorers.
Although Inter Milan conceded six goals across the two remarkable fixtures, goalkeeper Yann Sommer produced several world class saves to keep his side in the tie, and it didn’t go unnoticed.
His crowning moment across the two matches came early in the second half at the San Siro, as Sommer protected Inter’s two goal lead as he denied Garcia his second goal of the evening with a potential save of the season contender.
Praising the goalkeeper’s performance, one fan wrote: “That Yann Sommer save… I can’t. One of the most ridiculous saves I have ever seen.
“Even was a perfectly played counter-attack by Barca, couldn’t have done better either.”
Another fan added: “Yann Sommer has got to have the best save catalogue out of any keeper itw”
While one simply wrote: “Yann Sommer with another outstanding performance tonight.”

But with the tie going to extra-time following back-to-back 3-3 thrillers, Sommer may have to step up and be the hero once again should the match go to a penalty shootout if both sides fail to score a winning goal in 30 minutes.
Across his career, Sommer has a 17.17% penalty save rate, having stopped 17 out of 99 regular-time penalties.
In the Champions League specifically, Sommer has faced seven penalties in regular-time, but failed to save any of them.
