The accusations? Possiblyfalse game and non-regulatory adjustmentsto the most powerful weapon of the season.
According to insiders, Waché would have been “a little too loose” during a technical forum in Austria against a small group of journalists. What started as an analysis of motor efficiency and reliability ended in an unexpected confession:
“We have looked the boundaries. The FIA is now looking what” groundbreaking “means exactly.”
Fia is silent, but confirms internal investigation
Although theFIAhas not yet filed an official indictment, sources within the organization have confirmed that there is indeedan ongoing technical investigationis to theRB21 power source. The focus is on a possible violation of the “Engine Mapping” regulations, whereby engine performance can be temporarily increased outside the standard parameters.
An anonymous source within the FIA stated:
“We have discovered some data anomalies during racing weekends on which Verstappen showed a strikingly big difference with the rest of the field. The research is for the time being, but serious.”
What is suspected?
The RB21 engine would use an innovative software adjustment that is difficult to detect during standard technical checks. This would give Verstappen – especially during qualifications and restarts – an unauthorized benefit, according to technical analysts.
What makes it even more suspended: during some races in 2025, the difference in acceleration and top speed between Verstappen and his teammate or competitors at similar motor configurations was strikingly large.
Red Bull responds carefully
Red Bull Racing has not yet given an official response, but a spokesperson said that “people are fully cooperating with the FIA and it is convinced that all components and software meet the regulations.”
Pierre Waché himself refuses to give further comments, but his body language during the last press conference spoke volumes. Eyewitnesses described him as “nervous and visibly under pressure.”
No punishment, but repercussions?
If irregularities are actually established, that would be a huge blow to Verstappen and the Red Bull team. Although a disqualification or points deduction still seems far away, the reputation damage can be enormous – especially in a season in which Verstappen seemed to be on track to hisfifth world title.
