The Hill, an influential U.S. publication, has released a list of seven potential candidates to succeed Donald Trump as the Republican nominee for the 2028 presidential election. Among the seven candidates is Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of President Trump.

In an interview with NBC News, President Trump denied any plans to run for a third term. He made it clear that he will leave the White House at the end of his second term and will not seek to return to the position. At the recent Qatar Economic Forum, when asked whether he would consider running for president when President Trump leaves office in 2028, Donald Trump Jr., the president’s eldest son, stated, “Maybe someday… I could run for president.” Trump Jr. also emphasized that he feels honored to be considered as his father’s successor and that “I’m motivated to do this.”
Currently, Trump Jr. is regarded as one of the most prominent figures in the MAGA “Make America Great Again” movement established by President Donald Trump and is seen as a potential heir to his father’s political legacy. As Executive Vice President of the Trump Organization, Trump Jr. also serves as a key defender of President Trump on social media and is the family member with the most significant influence on the president’s decisions, particularly regarding personnel matters.
