Usha Vance, the wife of the candidate Vice President of Republican JD Vance, whose parents are all Indian immigrants, have been assistant for the Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court.
Usha Chilukuri Vance, 38, on July 17, stepped onto the stage of the National Party Congress (RNC) at Milwaukee to talk about her husband, Senator JD Vance, who was chosen by former President Donald Trump as the Republican Vice President candidate.
Usha tells about her childhood in San Diego. The maturity of Usha in the rancher Peñasquitos is thousands of kilometers away and different from her husband’s challenging childhood in Ohio.
Usha emphasized the difference in a 5 -minute speech, telling the story of her husband raised by her in one of the poorest areas in the United States and experienced “countless childhood injuries”.
“It is hard to imagine any more powerful examples about American dreams,” she said. “A boy from Middletown, Ohio, raised by her in difficult time, was chosen to lead the United States to overcome one of the most challenging periods.”
Usha said she grew up in “a middle -class community” and “having a loving parents, both of whom were immigrant Indians, and had a great sister”.
Her mother is Lakshmi Chilukuri, germist, Principal of Sixth University of the University of California in San Diego. Her father, Krish Chilukuri, is the aerospace engineer and a lecturer of San Diego State University.

Friends at MT.Carmel high school call Usha “nerd”. She graduated from high school in 2004, played flute in the school’s marching band and achieved good results in the school puzzle club. Usha graduated excellent Bachelor of History of Yale University and took a master’s degree in modern history at Cambridge University after winning the Gates Cambridge scholarship, the prestigious scholarship awarded to excellent candidates from countries outside the United Kingdom.
When studying law at Yale University, USHA knew Vance. Two people were assigned to write articles for the magazine when Usha was an editor for Yale Law Magazine and Yale Law & Technology Magazine.
“Who doesn’t want to make friends with JD?”, Usha said to the audience at RNC. “He then and until now, it was still the most interesting person I know.”
She said JD was enthusiastic, eager to learn, adapted very quickly with the difference between the two. Although he likes to eat meat and potatoes, he still practices to get used to Usha’s vegetarian diet, and learn to cook Indian food to cook for her mother.
“JD and I can know each other, love each other and get married, is a testament to this wonderful country,” she said.
In the memoirsHillbilly ElegeyTalking about her life published in 2016, Vance described his wife: “She is like a gene mutation, gathering all the positive qualities that people should have such as intelligence, hard work, tall and beautiful.”
“She has a great sense of humor and talks extremely frankly,” he wrote. “I used to dated a few people before, some people were serious, some people were not.

When she knew that Usha was single, Vance immediately invited her to hang out. After a few cleavage and an appointment, he asked U Usha. Both started the long -term relationship under the cheers of Amy Chua, Professor of Yale University, who wrote a famous bookThe battle of the tiger motherPublished in 2011, and also encouraged Vance to write memoirs.
“He called it a love at first sight,” Ms. Chua said. When Vance was considering submitting an assistant to the Federal Judge, she advised him to ignore and focus on Usha.
“The professor knows I have a girlfriend and is crazy,” Vance recounted, mentioning Ms. Chu’s advice. “The assistant assistant of the federal judge will destroy love. If you want to hear advice, I think you should prioritize Usha and find a career that suits you.”
JD Vance and Usha graduated Yale in 2013 and married in 2014. While her husband writes his memoirs and practicing law in Washington, Usha advanced in the precepts by the federal judge’s assistant in Dong Kentucky district, then assistant for Judge Brett M.Kavanaugh at the Appellate Court D.C before he was appointed as the US Supreme Court of Court.
In 2015, the Vance family moved to San Francisco. Usha works for Munder Law Firm, Tolles & Olsen and a few years later, she is an assistant to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court John G. Roberts. Usha’s colleagues were impressed with her ability, intelligence and dedication to the family.
“She is very serious family,” Sean Mirski, also assistant judge at the Supreme Court, commented.
Vance and his wife are living in Cincinnati and their three children, Ewan, Vivek and Mirabel. If Mr. Trump is elected, Senator JD Vance will become the Vice President and Usha will be the first Indian woman to take on the role of the Second Lady of the United States. After her husband was chosen by Mr. Trump as the deputy, she announced its resignation at the law firm.
“When this information was published, I filed for resignation at Munger, Tolles & Olson to focus on taking care of my family,” Usha said. “I am always grateful to the opportunities gaining in Munger, as well as great colleagues and friends who have cooperated with me for many years.”
