China responded to “ultimatum” about Mr. Trump’s tax – Luxury Blog

“China will resolutely protect its legitimate rights and interests,” said Chinese Embassy Liu Pengyu.

The official believes that the tariff plan of President Donald Trump’s administration “serves the interests of the United States by harming the interests of other countries and putting the United States first, on international rules”.

According to the Chinese Embassy spokesman, “putting pressure or threatening not the right approach”.

At a press conference on April 7, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Lin Jian also emphasized that the US tariff policy “will harm the United States as well as other countries”. He added that Washington’s taxes will have a particularly serious impact on developing countries and will also interrupt the global trade and logistics.

The statement was made after Mr. Trump threatened to impose an additional 50% tax for all imports from China, unless Beijing withdrew the retaliation policy by imposing a 34% tax on US goods.

“If China does not withdraw 34% tax on April 8, the US will apply an additional 50% additional tariff to Chinese goods from April 9,” Trump wrote on the Truth Social social network.

Earlier, Mr. Trump announced that the taxpayer was 34% with Chinese goods, in addition to the current 20%.

Beijing immediately responded with a 34% tax imposition plan for US goods. China has filed a complaint to the trade organizationWorld(WTO) To protest US tariffs.

In addition, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce imposed new limitations targeting US companies, as well as for the export of rare earth minerals in the country. Currently, about 70% of rare land imported from USA from China.

New developments raise concerns about the tariff battle between the two largest economies in the world, even globally.

Many governments are seeking to approach and negotiate with the Trump administration to avoid new tariffs.

For his part, Mr. Trump yesterday announced that he did not consider the suspension of the plan to apply a comprehensive additional tariff to dozens of countries despite the approach of trading partners, but still left the negotiations.

Trump said the “very important” tariffs for his economic agenda, and opened the door for “fair and good agreement with every country”. He added that there may be permanent tariffs and there may also be negotiations because there are things in the United States that need outside tariffs.

When asked if countries could be reduced tariffs to less than 10%, Mr. Trump declined to comment.
