(Knowledge) – After the chaos at the US Capitol on January 6, Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar said she would propose impeaching President Trump.
According to Fox9, Congresswoman Ilhan Omar said she is preparing paperwork to propose impeachment of President Trump , after the chaos at the Capitol building in Washington, DC on January 6 caused the session to certify the election results to be temporarily suspended.
“Donald Trump must be impeached by the House and removed from office by the Senate. We cannot allow him to remain in office. This is about protecting the Republic and upholding our oath,” Rep. Ilhan Omar wrote on Twitter.

If the House does impeach Trump , it will be the second time he has been impeached. Trump was previously impeached by the House, but was acquitted by the Senate in early 2020.

Hundreds of people attending a rally in support of US President Donald Trump outside the White House on January 6th went to the Capitol building. They broke down the door, clashed with security forces, and forced the evacuation of Senate and House lawmakers while they were meeting to confirm President-elect Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 election.
At the time of the incident, US lawmakers in both houses were asked to evacuate for safety reasons.
Democratic Senator Jeff Merkley said the US electoral college ballot boxes were also secured.
At least 20 radical protesters were arrested and one person was shot in the recent “attack” on the National Assembly building.
US congressional leaders announced that the process of certifying the presidential election results will resume.
