BYD CEO Says This New Charger Will Destroy Entire EV Industry by 2025

The auto industry just experienced a technological earthquake. Wang Chuanfu, CEO of BYD, the Chinese giant now hot on Tesla’s heels, announced a new electric vehicle charger that promises to turn the tables. Its impact could be compared to one of those epic scenes in a movie where everything changes in a matter of seconds. But this time it’s not fiction: it’s 100% real and it’s coming in 2025.

According to Wang himself during a conference in Shenzhen, BYD’s new charging system will allow the battery to be recharged to 80% in just 5 minutes. Yes, you read that right: 5 minutes. This breakthrough not only surpasses what Tesla offers with its V4 Supercharger network, but also breaks all current limitations of fast charging.

“It’s like going from fax to fiber optics in one fell swoop,” Wang told a stunned audience. The technology uses a combination of advanced liquid cooling, artificial intelligence, and superconducting materials, something that until now had only been discussed in the lab.

The announcement quickly sparked reactions in the stock market and among industry experts. Analysts say that if BYD keeps its promises (and everything seems to indicate that it will, with pilot stations already installed in China), other manufacturers will have to reinvent themselves or succumb.

For many, Tesla’s dominance is more threatened than ever. Elon Musk, who has been in the spotlight for his recent decisions, has yet to issue an official response. But within the tech community, there is already talk of a “Netflix vs. Blockbuster moment” for electric mobility.

Much more than it seems. For decades, cinema has shaped our vision of the future: flying cars, instant charging, artificial intelligence… Well, BYD has just brought science fiction closer to reality. And it’s already inspiring screenwriters, producers and streaming platforms.

In Hollywood, studios like Warner Bros. and Netflix are already developing stories in which the new ultra-fast charging technology plays a central role. There is even talk of a possible action thriller titled  “5 Minutes to Power  ,” with clear references to the new BYD trailer.

In addition, Wang Chuanfu himself confirmed negotiations with a Chinese studio to co-produce a futuristic miniseries, in which the charger would be the central axis of a global energy revolution. It is clear that the narration of technology is merging with the audiovisual one. And Facebook, focusing on  short films  and viral reels, has already begun to show explanatory clips that have exceeded a million views.

Everything. If this technology were to be implemented on a global scale, it would eliminate one of the main obstacles to the mass adoption of electric vehicles: charging time. This means:

  • It recharges as quickly as a gas tank.

  • Less congestion at charging stations.

  • Increased resale value of compatible vehicles.

  • Significant reduction in homelessness anxiety.

And, of course, a direct hit on traditional oil companies. In cinematic terms, it would be like watching dinosaurs take on a meteorite.

2025 hasn’t arrived yet, but the future is already ahead. While many expected gradual improvements, BYD decided to go big. Its new charger is not only a technological milestone, but also a clear message: the new era of electric mobility no longer belongs to Tesla… it belongs to anyone who dares to rewrite history.

And if history has taught us anything, in the movies and in real life, it’s that the greatest changes often start with a simple spark. This time, the spark comes from China… and it promises to set the entire world alight.
