Ice agent will ‘flood’ New York City
The United States “border boss” Tom Homan announced that ICE would strengthen agents to go to New York after a border guards were shot seriously by immigrants.
Tom Homan, an adviser on the immigration policy of US President Donald Trump, who is called the “border boss”, on July 21 announced he would mobilize a series of agents of the US Immigration and Customs enforcement agency (
“They do not want us to open an office at the prison to arrest bad guys in safety and security. They want to release him on the street, which is dangerous for himself, because anything can happen in a arrest of people on the street,” Homan said at the One World Trade Center tower in New York.
Mr. Homan accused New York as a “shelter” to protect illegal immigrants, pledge to bring more agents to the city to “hunt bad guys”.
“I will work hard to execute President Trump’s statement a few weeks ago that dealing with shelter cities will be our priority,” he emphasized. “We will flood that area.”

The statement was given by Mr. Homan and the domestic Security Minister Kristi Noem and the officials of the Trump administration after a border guards were injured by two illegal immigrants in an unsuccessful robbery on the evening of July 19.
The two suspects were arrested later, including Miguel Francisco Mora Nunez and Cristian Aybar Berrroa, both of Dominican and illegally crossed the US in 2023, under President Joe Biden. These two have been arrested and released 4 times in the following years.
Noem said that the shooting was caused by New York’s shelter and mayor Eric Adams.
“Please clarify one thing, this border officer is fighting for life in the hospital is because the mayor’s policies and the New York City Council and those responsible for keeping the people safely do it.
Mr. Adams said he wanted to cooperate more with the federal authorities on immigration but the force of impotence by the City Council “tended to be described” and did not allow him to do so.
“I have nothing to do with the rules set out. I only execute the rules,” Mr. Adams said at the press conference on July 21, when asked to respond to Ms. Noem’s allegations.
He welcomed ICE to deploy more agents to New York if they helped the city search “dangerous people” like the suspect shooting, but noted “if it was to pursue normal individuals working and trying to become a citizen, I don’t think we should do that”.
New York City Council has not answered the request.
The plan to strengthen the ICE agent to New York City was released after Mr. Trump announced that he would focus on enforcing immigration laws in cities led by the Democratic Party.
The Ministry of Security has not yet responded to a comment on the number of current ICE agents in New York and how the plan will take place.
