A teacher is in the Manitowoc County Jail in connection with multiple offenses he’s alleged to have committed with students at Mishicot High School. The Manitowoc County Sheriff revealed on Thursday that 36-year-old Ryan Scott Schroeder of Francis Creek is already jailed, even as the investigation continues to explore the extent of his involvement. Schroeder served as a physical education teacher and coach at Mishicot High.
Charges against him so far include:
Second Degree Sexual Assault of a Child
Repeated Sexual Assault of the Same Child
Sexual Assault of a Child by School Staff
Possession of Child Pornography
Child Enticement
The investigation that generated those charges began after the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office received reports of alleged inappropriate behavior with students. After enough evidence had been gathered to support those allegations, Schroeder was taken into custody and was scheduled to appear for his bail hearing at 12:45 p.m. on Thursday.
The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office said that they have been working closely with the Mishicot School District and the Mishicot Police Department since the start of the investigation, which has led officials to believe that the offenses occurred over an extended period of time, and that additional victims and witnesses have yet to come forward.
Anyone who may have information related to the case is being encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (920) 683-4466, or through the P3 App, where anonymous tips can be submitted. Also, Detective Nate Steber can be called directly at (920) 683-6170.
The Sheriff said that, due to the nature of the investigation and concerns for the privacy of potential victims, no further information would be released at this time.
