In a surprising and almost incredible turn within the Formula 1 world, it appears that Christian Horner, the team boss of Red Bull Racing, has encouraged his star driver Max Verstappen to leave the team at the end of the season. What is even more remarkable: Horner would have advised Max to join Alpine F1 in 2026, the wrestling French team that hopes to return to the top.
According to sources close to the team, the relationship between Horner and Verstappen has come under tension since the beginning of this season. Internal political games, disagreements about technical choices and the future of Red Bull after the departure of top designer Adrian Newey, would be at the basis of this striking development.
During a private conversation – the content of which has since leaked outside – Horner would have said to Verstappen:
“Maybe it’s time for a new challenge. Alpine is looking for a leader. You could become a legend there.”
