A new tense episode is rocking the French national team just weeks before a crucial match. Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman is at the center of a heated controversy after being accused of actively trying to convince PSG’s young talent Bradley Barcola to leave his club to join Bayern. But that’s not all: according to several sources close to the Federation, Coman also made comments deemed inappropriate about his former training club, Paris Saint-Germain.
This attitude was not ignored by national coach Didier Deschamps. Known for his sense of discipline and strict management of the squad, Deschamps reportedly called Coman in for a private meeting on the sidelines of the team’s preparations. During this meeting, the coach reportedly expressed his deep disappointment at the player’s behavior, which he deemed “inappropriate and detrimental to team cohesion.”
The tone was reportedly firm and unequivocal. Deschamps, according to witnesses present in the coaching staff, reminded Coman that the French team could not be a place for proselytism or interclub quarrels. He even imposed a symbolic sanction on him: temporary exclusion from a collective training session , in order to “send a strong signal” to the rest of the group. A rare decision, but one that is in line with the coach’s strict line of conduct.
Taken aback by his coach’s reaction, Kingsley Coman was forced to publicly apologize . In a message posted on his social media, the player wrote:
“I would like to apologize to PSG, Bradley Barcola, and my teammates in the French national team. My words went beyond my thoughts, and I deeply respect the Parisian club and all the players who play for it.”
This gesture of appeasement was welcomed by some, but many voices, particularly among PSG supporters, continue to express their anger. On social media, comments are divided between those who believe Coman simply made an error of judgment, and those who call for his permanent exclusion from the France squad if such lapses are repeated.
For Didier Deschamps, the incident is now closed. He briefly stated during the press conference: “The main thing is that the rules are respected. Kingsley has acknowledged his mistake. We are moving forward.”
However, this affair could leave its mark, both in the blue locker room and in the relationships between certain players. In a context where the unity of the group is crucial, this type of tension could prove harmful in the long term , especially with major international events approaching.
