Rome – 11 May 2025.Jannik Sinner is back. And he did it with the charisma, the determination and elegance that made him one of the most loved faces of world tennis. After weeks of stop to recover from a slight muscle injury, the South Tennist Tennist made his debut at the Rome tournament with a convincing victory against the Argentine Mariano Navone. But it was not only a matter of points or ranking: a story of sport, respect and great humanity was staged on the field.
Sinner dominated the match from the first exchanges, closing with a double 6-2 that leaves no room for doubt. His physical condition appears optimal, but above all mental solidity that strikes: aggressive to the service, precise from the bottom of the field, and capable of reading the opponent with lucidity. At the end of the meeting, visibly tried, Mariano Navone approached the net, tightening his hand to Sinner and whispering, open microphones:“You are simply superior”– The three words that went around the web.
But the most touching moment came a few seconds later. Sinner, instead of exulting as usual, approached Navone again, embraced him sincerely and said to him:“Today is my day, but soon it will be yours”. A simple gesture, but full of meaning, which triggered the spontaneous applause of the audience of the Foro Italico. The social networks turned on in a few minutes, between messages of esteem and video that in a few hours exceeded million views.
With this victory, Sinner not only advances in the second round, but launches a clear message to his opponents: he is back, and is hungry for titles. However, what makes this return special is the maturity with which he faces every moment, inside and off the pitch. Not only a sports champion, but an example of sportiness, empathy and humility.
