Leo XIV – The second Pope of the Americas

Robert Prevost, Agustín’s first Pope, now Leo XIV, is the second Pope of the Americas, after Francis. Robert Francis Prevost was born on September 14, 1955 in Chicago, Illinois, in a family of French and Italy (his father Louis Marius Prevost) and Spain (Mother Mildred Martínez). Tiene dos hermanos: Louis Martín y John Joseph.
He experienced his family with his family and studied at the Agustín Seminary, then at the University of Villanova, Pennsylvania, where he graduated with a degree in Mathematics and Philosophy in 1977.
On September 1, 1977, he joined the practice of Holy Agustín (O.S.A.) in Saint Louis, directly under the province of Our Lady (Our Lady of Good Council) in Chicago, and for the first time he prayed on September 2, 1978.
He studied theology in Catholic theology of Chicago (CTU). At age 27, he was sent to Rome to study the law of Pope St. Thomas Aquinus (Angelicum).
In Rome, he was Bishop Jean Jadot, at that time he was the president of the Santa Headquarters Commission on the Dialogue of Lien Ton (now the Dialogue of Lien Ton), the priesthood ordination on June 19, 1982, at the Agustín Acustín Academy of Santa Monica.
He graduated from level II (licensed) in 1984, and was preparing a doctoral thesis, was sent to the mission in Chulucanas, Piura, Peru (1985-1986). In 1987, he successfully defended his doctoral thesis with the theme: “The role of the local surface in San Agustín.” In the same year, he was appointed director of the vocation and the missionary director of the province of Our Lady of the Maria, he told him that it was good at Olympia Fields, Illinois (USA).

Mission in Peru

The following year, he joined the mission in Trujillo, Peru, as director of the General Training Program for Agustín’s apprentices of the representative particles of Chulucanas, Iquitos and Apurísmac.
For 11 years, it served here with many roles: Superior of the Community (1988–1992), training director (1988–1998), prayer coaches (1992–1998). At the same time, in the Archdiocese of Trujillo, he was a judicial representative (1989-1998) and a professor of Doctor of Law, Parents and Theology at the Major Seminary of San Carlos and San Marcelo.
At the same time, he also took over the shepherd in the poor parish of Our Lady of the Church, later became the Holy Parish (1988-1999), and was manager of the Parish of Our Lady of Monserrat from 1992 to 1999.
In 1999, he was chosen to be the superior of Our Lady of María in Chicago, and two and a half years later, Augustine was chosen as a superior total and re -elected for the second mandate of 2007.

Bishop Chiclayo, Peru (2015–2023)


In October 2013, after finishing his mission in Rome, he returned to Chicago as training director in the Monastery of Agustín, the first advisor and the representative of the Provincial Order, until Pope Francis appointed him on November 3, 2014 as supervisor of the Diocese of Chicayo, Peru, and raised him before the Bishop, the Court Sufar.
He officially accepted the diocese on November 7, under the witness of James Patrick Green, and was transmitted to the bishop on December 12, the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, in the Cathedral of Mary.
Its maximum “in Ilo Unum” – citing St. Augustine at the Conference of Psalm 127: “Although we are many, but in the only Christ, we are one.”
On September 26, 2015, he was appointed Bishop of Chiclayo Court.
In 2018, he was chosen to be the second vice president of Peruvian Bishops, and was a member of the Economic Council and the president of the Culture and Education Committee.
In 2019, Francis appointed the clergy (July 13, 2019), and in 2020, the Bishop (November 21, 2020). On April 15, 2020, he was appointed director of the Diocese of Callao, Peru.

Minister of Bishops

On January 30, 2023, Rome was summoned as Minister of Bishops and president of the Pope Committee on Latin America, and was raised to Archbishop.

Be promoted al cardinal 2024

On September 30, 2023, Pope Francis was promoted to Cardinal in Cardinal, granted the title of the Holly Catholic Church. He officially received the Church on January 28, 2024.
