President Trump said “not really need Elon Musk” in the government, but asserting that he loves this billionaire.
“Elon Musk did a great job. Look at this, he was sitting here and that was not what I was concerned about. I don’t need Elon Musk for any reason but myself,” US President Donald Trump said at the cabinet meeting at the White House on April 10.
President Trump also told the story of buying Tesla cars to show support for billionaire Musk, although he did not need that car and did not need to be discounted.
The White House owner last month bought the red Tesla M model and praised it as “a great product, because Elon Musk devoted his heart and life to develop”.
The US president continued to assert that Elon Musk “did a great job but had not been treated well”. The US billionaire was appointed by Mr. Trump as a special government employee and led the Government Performance Committee (DOGE) in the task of reforming and streamlining the government apparatus.
Also in the cabinet meeting on April 10, billionaire Musk announced that Doge would cut nearly 150 billion USD for the 2026 fiscal year, lasting from April 1 to March 31, 2026. Musk’s special government employee position has no salary and does not work more than 130 days per year.
Doge is expected to operate until July 4, 2026. However, there are signs that this organization is about to end term, when Doge’s employees were transferred to different federal agencies. Mr. Trump said that after Musk left, the ministers would take over the work but “Doge will still work”.
