US President Donald Trump has launched a series of “Trump 2028” products showing his ambition for a third term, although most observers say this is unlikely.

According to AFP news agency on April 25, US President Donald Trump ‘s online store is selling hats and T-shirts with the slogan “Trump 2028” – expressing his ambition to run for president again in 2028.
Recently on April 24, a social media post linked to Mr. Trump posted a picture of his son – Eric Trump – wearing a red hat printed with the words “Trump 2028”, sold for $50. The product description on the Trump Store website reads: “Make a statement with this Trump 2028 Made in America hat”.
Additionally, red and navy blue T-shirts with the words “Trump 2028 (Rewrite the Rules)” are also on sale for $36.
The move immediately attracted attention as Mr. Trump has seen his approval ratings plummet during his term in office, due to his handling of issues such as inflation, the cost of living and tariff policy.
In addition, the 22nd Amendment to the US Constitution stipulates: “No person shall be elected to the office of President more than twice.” This means that Mr. Trump – who served as president from 2017 to 2021 and was re-elected in 2024 – is not allowed to run for office again
To amend the US Constitution to allow the president to serve a third term, it would require the support of two-thirds of the House and Senate, along with the ratification of at least 38 out of 50 states – a scenario considered highly unlikely.
However, although he has never officially announced his plans to run for a third term, Mr. Trump – now 78 years old – has repeatedly stated that he is “not joking” when mentioning a third term and hinted at having “methods” to make it happen.
However, observers say this is almost impossible. His release of the “Trump 2028” series of products is seen by many as a public opinion poll rather than an official political campaign.
