According to Wang himself during a conference in Shenzhen, BYD’s new charging system will allow the battery to be charged to 80% in just 5 minutes. Yes, you read that right: 5 minutes. This breakthrough not only surpasses Tesla’s offering with its V4 Supercharger network, but also overcomes all current limitations of fast charging.
“It’s like going from fax to fiber optics in one fell swoop,” Wang told a stunned audience. The technology uses a combination of advanced liquid cooling, artificial intelligence, and superconducting materials, something that has so far only been discussed in the lab.
The announcement quickly sparked reactions on the stock market and among industry experts. Analysts believe that if BYD keeps its promises – and everything seems to confirm it, given that pilot stations have already been installed in China – other manufacturers will have to reinvent themselves or go bankrupt.
