In his explosive book, Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War Between the Windsors, Tom Bower delves into a critical moment when Prince Harry hoped that Diana’s sisters would draw parallels between his then-girlfriend and his late mother.
Bower recounts: “Harry assumed that Diana’s family and friends would see a similarity between Diana and his fiancee. Both, he said, shared the same problems.” However, the assumption met with disappointment as the author notes: “He was disappointed. No one agreed that his vulnerable mother had anything in common with his girlfriend.”
According to Bower, the Royal family didn’t quite see it Harry’s way and even voiced concerns: “More discomforting for him, they thought Meghan would not fit in with the Royal Family.”
Despite these feelings among his relatives, Harry has never stopped comparing Meghan with his mother, drawing comparisons with Princess Diana’s compassionate nature and allure, reports the Express
In the 2022 Netflix docuseries Harry and Meghan, the prince lovingly observed: “So much of what Meghan is and how she is, is so similar to my mum. She has the same compassion, the same empathy, the same confidence. She has this warmth about her.”
Furthermore, Prince Harry gushed over the connection he feels Diana would have had with Meghan during the couple’s engagement interview with the BBC in 2017: “I think she (Diana) would be over the moon, jumping up and down, so excited for me, but then, as I said, she would have probably been best friends – best friends with Meghan.”
With the royal days behind her, Meghan is reportedly thinking about her future career. Before linking with Harry, she had a buzzing Hollywood career as she held a leading role on the show Suits. Now, rumors are spreading that she could consider a comeback to the scene.
Gabriel Macht, who starred as Harvey Specter in the original Suits series, opened up about a potential spin-off for the show, telling Extra TV that he thought his character was in a “happy place.” If a spin-off did happen, though, Gabriel also didn’t fully write-off a return for Meghan. “Never say never,” he added.
Harry, though, had an interesting reaction to Meghan’s appearance in Suits which included a well-known sex scene. He wrote in his book, Spare, “I’d witnessed her [Meghan] and a castmate mauling each other in some sort of office or conference room,” adding, “I didn’t need to see such things live.”
