REPORT: Jimmy Butler gives crucial update on injury he suffered

It was a difficult day for the Golden State Warriors on Sunday. In addition to losing to the Los Angeles Clippers, one of the team’s top players had an injury.

The final score of Golden State’s overtime loss against Los Angeles was 124-119 at home. The Warriors will have to compete in the play-in tournament after falling to seventh place in the Western Conference.

The Chase Center will host the Memphis Grizzlies (8) and the Warriors (7). Steve Kerr’s team will play the Houston Rockets in the opening round of the 2025 playoffs if Golden State prevails.

The winner of the Sacramento Kings (9) vs. Dallas Mavericks (10) play-in game will face the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round if the Warriors lose to the Grizzlies.

“We’re right where we want to be,” Jimmy Butler said after the Warriors lost to the Clippers, via ESPN. “We’ve still got an opportunity and we control our own fate. We’re going to be just fine.”

In the Warriors-Clipppers game, Butler, who hasn’t missed the playoffs since playing for the Chicago Bulls in 2016, sustained a thigh injury. Although he was limping a lot toward the end of the game, he assured reporters afterward that he would be alright.

“I’ll be alright,” Butler reported. “It will feel better if you go home and play dominoes and drink some coffee.”

Butler faced the Clippers and played 48 minutes. He finished with nine rebounds and thirty points.

Since 2022, the Warriors have failed to win a postseason series. Whether Golden State makes it to the postseason this year will be interesting to see.

It will be interesting to see how far the Warriors advance if they qualify for the playoffs.
